10 Simple Ways to Update a Kitchen

    September 17, 2021 /

We have been living in this house for around 20 years. About 5 years in, we took out all the kitchen cabinets and replaced them. We also got new counters, a sink and all new appliances. Later we added a subway tile backsplash. Fast forward about 15 years to the present, and the kitchen began to look like it needed some updates in my eyes. Dorm Room Essentials

    August 25, 2021 /

We recently moved our oldest child into his dorm room for his first year at college. So this was my first experience with moving someone into a dorm room, and I wanted to help make it a cozy and organized space with room for all of the necessities and more! I researched the many dorm check off lists, shopped around, checked out reviews and joined a Facebook group called, “Dorm Chatter.” I gathered all of the info I could, and together we ended up with the following list of dorm room essentials. Even if you aren’t looking to organize an actual dorm room, some of these small space organization ideas…

What Do I Need on the Beach?

    July 17, 2021 /

My favorite vacation spot is the beach. Growing up we would go to the Jersey Shore, and since my kids have been babies we’ve continued going there for our family vacations. Here are my 15 Beach Must Haves to answer the question, “what do I need on the beach?”. Over the years I have gone from bringing just a towel and a cooler to a beach wagon full of essentials. The Best Way to Clean an Indoor/Outdoor Rug

    July 9, 2021 /

Indoor/Outdoor rugs are great because they are so durable and easy to clean! Let me explain the best way I’ve found to clean an indoor/outdoor rug. (This post contains affiliate links. This means I receive a small compensation at no cost to you. For example, as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. You can read more about it here. Thank you for your support!) I would bet that the one rug that gets the most traffic in the house and ends up getting the dirtiest is the rug in front of the door in the entryway of your home. Besides the fact that everyone is always walking on it,…

    How to Hang Floating Shelves

    May 27, 2021 /

It was time to update our kitchen, and hanging floating shelves was at the top of my list! I will be writing more posts on the entire kitchen remodel, but for now let’s focus on how to hang floating shelves. We decided to remove one of the upper cabinets in the kitchen and replace it with three floating shelves. The shelves we used are from Ultra Shelf. They custom make them to the size and color that you want! They also have a built in installation system that makes hanging them easy. The look of floating shelves without any brackets or anything like that creates an open and airy feel.…

How to Make a No Sew Round Throw Pillow

    April 17, 2021 /

A trend in throw pillows are round pillows, some with pom poms all around or fringe or tassels. They are so cute! I had some round seagrass placemats with a fringe that I was not using anymore, and I decided to try to turn them into a pillow. It worked! Even better, no sewing was involved. Let me show you how to make a no sew round throw pillow. (This post contains affiliate links. This means I receive a small compensation at no cost to you. How to Make a Boho Wreath with Thick Fuzzy Yarn

    February 3, 2021 /

Let’s learn how to make a boho wreath with thick fuzzy yarn. It is a fun and super easy project! The key is using a really thick and fuzzy yarn. The yarn I used was Yarn Bee “Showstopper” in ivory, and I found it at Hobby Lobby. The link is below. You of course can try other yarns, but keep in mind the thicker ones will stand up better instead of flopping down on the top. The soft and fuzzy look is also what we’re going for here!
