My Honest Review of the GE Cafe Stove
Our previous stove lasted us 20 years, but when it was time to get a new one I was excited to have one that could perform better than our old one, offer more with new technology, and also update the look of the whole kitchen. We shopped around and researched reviews and prices and came up with the electric GE Cafe stove in white. I honestly at first fell in love with the look of it, but I didn’t want to end up with a subpar stove just because it was so pretty! However, between all the features it had to offer (did someone say double oven?) and great reviews, we decided that it was more than just a pretty oven and purchased one. If you are in the market for a new stove and are considering a GE Cafe stove, I’m hoping this post will help you decide. I will be sharing my thoughts on it, now having used it and lived with it for 10 months. Here is my honest review of the GE Cafe stove.

What I Love About the GE Cafe Stove
1. Appearance
I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this is a GORGEOUS stove, and it really transformed the look of our kitchen!
This is what our kitchen looked like with our previous stove. There wasn’t anything wrong with how it looked, but the new one really catches your eye more! Our old one also went up high onto the wall, whereas the GE Cafe stove doesn’t at all. I love how much more open it looks without the backsplash being blocked. That also leaves more room above the stove. I have this rack with hooks above it, and now I can hang larger objects. I really love that change in the look of the kitchen. (Read about how I hung the rack without making holes in the tile here)
Here’s the kitchen with the new GE Cafe stove.
I also love the look of the stove being white, however it comes in stainless steel as well. At first I wasn’t sure which to pick. I loved the look of the white one from the start, but the other appliances in the kitchen are stainless steel. So I wondered if it would look strange if they weren’t all the same, or if a white one would look like too much white against the white cabinets.
So I did the following mock ups to help me decide!
I decided it would be fine to not have all stainless steel appliances, especially with the location of the stove. It feels like the placement of it is more of a focal point and therefore can be it’s own color. The mock up made me feel that it’s not too much white.
I also loved the “brushed bronze” accents. I think they look so good with the white!
2. Efficiency
I can only compare this stove to my last one, but the electric GE Cafe stove heats up quickly and runs nice and hot! For example, it feels like boiling water goes more quickly, and I can cook food faster at lower numbers on the dial. The oven also preheats quickly!
This stovetop has 5 burners, the back middle one being a warmer. I actually haven’t used it yet though.
One thing I like about any electric stove top is that it offers extra “counter space” and is so easy to clean!
3. Double Oven
The fact that this is a standard size stove that fits right in where my old one with a single oven was but contains a DOUBLE OVEN blows my mind and is one of the major reasons I love and recommend this stove! There have been no issues with not being able to fit something in the oven or anything like that. They also seem to maintain their individual temps well, and I have no complaints. It bakes like a dream and also offers lots of options (even connects to your phone), I haven’t even tried them all yet! It’s even just been amazing to have the option to cook two things at once, especially when entertaining.
4. Air Fryer
The bottom oven has an air fryer option! I had been dying to try out an air fryer, and I love that I don’t have to have a whole separate air fryer appliance taking up counter space!
The panel is easy to use to get to the air fryer and other options as well. You just hit “options” and this comes up.
The following tray and rack work great in the oven with the air fryer but also without. Highly recommend!
What I Don’t Love About the GE Cafe Stove
Before I explain what I don’t love about this stove, let me say that none of these negative things are deal breakers in my eyes. Overall I am thrilled with this stove! However, I want to have full disclosure with you and share what I’m not crazy about as well.
1. There is only one timer, but there is a double oven. I’d prefer to have a timer for each. However, you can program each oven to turn off at a certain time. It’s easy to set, but it’s something to get used to. I think I’d prefer two timers instead. Often I’ll set a timer to check on something to see if it needs more time or not. You’re not always certain that at say the 30 minute mark it will be done and the oven can go off. In any case, I just use Alexa as my second timer usually!
2. I mentioned previously that the stove heats up nice and quickly and runs hot, which is efficient and great! However, at the lowest setting on the stovetop, I find it is still cooking a bit too warm. I like to have something that is done cooking just staying warm and not cooking still. There is a warmer burner, but it is too small for my larger most often used pan.
3. On our old stove top, each individual burner would say if it was warm still after it was turned off. This one just has one light indicating a general “hot cooktop surface” on the front by the knobs. Again this takes getting used to, but it is harder to realize the surface is hot when it is. We already had a melted bag after it was place unknowingly on it. Luckily it washed off perfectly! Just something to look out for, I mean it was really user error.
In Conclusion
Overall, I highly recommend the GE Cafe stove. I love it so much and have no regrets!
