I love decorating for Valentine’s Day. It’s a lot more low key than Christmas, so it’s quick and easy. I really enjoy adding some subtle hearts and “xoxo” signs here and there. It’s a sweet holiday that should be celebrated with little reminders of love around the house.
Farmhouse beads are so simple to make, and there are so many places you can add them in your home. They add dimension and are just plain cute! You can have them hanging down from a basket or flower arrangement, on a tray in a grouping, in a decorative bowl, on a shelf or hanging from a hook. The possibilities are endless!
I found these chalkboard tags at Michaels, and I thought they would be the perfect simple Valentine’s Day touch I was looking for to add to some farmhouse beads.
Let me show you how to make them!
Materials
- wooden beads (Decide the size of the beads, if you want a thicker or skinnier string of beads. These are 18 mm.)
- twine or jute yarn (Not too thick, or it won’t fit through the hole.)
- heart tag (or any other tag you decide to make or find)
Instructions
- Cut a long piece of the twine. The length of this will be up to you.
- Simply put the twine through the hole of the tag and knot it.
- Trim off remaining twine from the knot.
- With the remaining twine, take it and put on as many beads as you’d like, depending how long you’d like it to be.
- Knot the end with a loop, and cut off any excess twine.
That’s it! So easy! Now you have a cute addition to your Valentine decor.
The following are similar to what I used. My beads were from Michaels and I would say are 18 mm. The chalkboard tags were also from Michaels but are not available online. (These are affiliate links.)
