Kitchen Counter Decor Ideas
When deciding what to put on your kitchen counters, there are two things to keep in mind. You want them to be both beautiful as well as functional. If objects don’t check off both, the counter may look cluttered and the whole kitchen simply won’t look up to its potential. Here are some kitchen counter decor ideas that fit the bill!

1. Fruit Bowls
With there being so many beautiful and unique bowls (and baskets) out there, using them to store fruit on the kitchen counter is a great idea for decor that is practical as well. You can even have several for different types of fruits. I also like to have a small decorative bowl out with garlic in it.
A bowl of fruit makes a great centerpiece on the table as well!

2. Trays, Risers, Pedestals and Stands
Lifting objects up off the counter is a cute look, but it also makes the workspace feel less cluttered and more spacious.

3. Pretty Countertop Appliances
Having a toaster out on the counter makes it easier to use, but when a toaster is an eye sore it’s a bummer! Updating small appliances can really add a lot to the space.

4. Small Lamps
When we took down an upper cabinet and replaced it with open shelves, we lost the undercabinet lighting. (You can read about this update here.) We might add some under the shelves eventually, but in the meantime I have a small lamp on the counter. Small lamps are so cute and actually do add some helpful light to the workspace. This is a kitchen counter decor idea that is pretty and practical!
Two Ways to Hide the Lamp Wire
For one, you can put the lamp on a riser and hide the wire under it. You can then choose to only plug it in when in use.
Another way is to cut the wire off and use a battery operated puck light! (Credit for this “magic light trick” goes to Nesting with Grace)

5. Utensil Holders
Utensil holders on the counter top are like fruit bowls in that they can be beautiful and functional at the same time. You can also have multiple ones to organize your utensils. I like having one for all my wooden spoons, another for whisks and another for all the rest.
Like with canisters, you can think outside of the box with utensil holders. They don’t have to just be containers that were made specifically for holding utensils. You can find other types that could be useful like pitchers, planters, vases or crocks.

6. Canisters
Canisters look great on the counter and are of course handy for storing flour, sugar, coffee and endless possibilities.
You can also think outside of the box with canisters. The ones pictured above are sold for the bathroom, but I love them in my kitchen!

7. Cookbook Stand
A cookbook stand is a great way to display a pretty cookbook opened or closed. Then it is also helpful in keeping your cookbook open and easy to read when following a recipe while you cook!

A sink caddy helps organize your soaps and scrubbie brushes and also makes them all look cute!
