How to Make a Christmas Arrangement Using a Compote Bowl in 4 Ways

I have this brass compote bowl that I love, and I used it to create some Christmas arrangement ideas! It is such a pretty and versatile piece with endless possibilities. It can be used as a centerpiece on the table, but it also could work on a shelf, console table or coffee table. A simple plant looks great in one, but for Christmas a little tree is perfect in it! Here’s how to make a Christmas arrangement in a compote bowl in 4 ways.

Here is a selection of compote bowls to choose from: (This is the one I used.)

1. Gold Star Arrangement

You can add greenery and gold star picks to a compote bowl.

To create this look, first let’s make these star picks using bamboo skewer sticks and gold metal stars.

Paint the bamboo sticks gold before adding the stars.

Paint the sticks with gold paint. I used a little paint brush, but a foam brush would’ve worked even better!

Once dry, attach the stick to the star like pictured using some fun tac. Press it down firmly.

Next place some more fun tac over the top. Start with a little amount, then add more later if the second star doesn’t stick. You’ll need enough to fill the inside of the star, but not too much to ooze out of the sides. Then line up a second star to the first star and press down firmly.
Once you have a collection of star picks, you can arrange them into a rounded floral styrofoam in the bottom of the compote bowl.

Next add your Christmas greenery and stems. Most if not all of these were from Hobby Lobby. Find some similar options here:

2. Bells and Wreath Arrangement

Add bells and a wreath to a compote bowl for a Christmas arrangement.

The greenery in this arrangement is actually a mini wreath! It fits perfectly on top, and you could even stack a couple on top of each other for a fuller look.

To achieve this look, first fill the bowl with paper towels or newspaper.

Next place a wreath on top. I bought this wreath at Hobby Lobby (no longer available online). Here are some other mini Christmas wreath options:

Place some large bells on top. These bells from Target are a great size and price at $10 for this whole box.

3. Pinecones and Wreath Arrangement

Replace the bells with pinecones for another option! I love the natural elements.

4. Christmas Tree Arrangement

Add a little tree with a brass bow topper to a compote bowl for a Christmas arrangement.

This little tree is only $5 right now on sale! Putting it in the compote bowl with some Spanish moss really elevated the look of it. I topped it off with a brass bow, and I love how it came together.

This bow topper is the cutest! Here are more bow options:
