I would bet that the one rug that gets the most traffic in the house and ends up getting the dirtiest is the rug in front of the door in the entryway of your home. Besides the fact that everyone is always walking on it, they also always have their shoes on when doing so. Because of this, I have found that the best rug to have there is an indoor/outdoor rug. Unfortunately, I have tossed many rugs away before figuring this out! I know there are rugs that can be washed in the washing machine, so that may be another option. I haven’t tried one in this spot. However, personally I think I like this way better and feel it gets cleaner in the end this way!

How to Clean an Indoor/Outdoor Rug Using Dawn Powerwash

Dawn Powerwash has lots of uses besides washing dishes! I decided to give it a try on the rug, and it worked great. Not only was it powerful enough to get out the dirt and stains, it was so handy to use the spray bottle it comes in.

Step One: Vacuum

Step Two: Spray Dawn Powerwash on the Rug

This is the one I used. I have heard that some don’t like the scented ones and complain that it is a strong scent. So I went with the free and clear.

Step 3: Scrub Using a Scrub Brush and Basin of Water

After spraying on the Dawn, I scrubbed the rug with a scrub brush.

Step Four: Take Outside, Spray Off with the Hose and Air Dry
